Crane Lake and Canadian Fishing: Another Northland Weekend for L-Kat

It was another busy weekend for Fargo's favorite young scientist, L-Kat.

"The university is closed on Monday for President's Day, so I'm taking advantage of this long weekend," she told paparazzi as she loaded up her 2002 Chrysler Sebring.  Where was she headed?  To Minnesota's northland, of course.  The little town of Crane Lake may be a chilly place to vacation, but it is L-Kat's newest hot spot.

"It's such an amazing place - the people here are genuinely nice.  Plus the fishing is great!"  L-Kat told press with a beaming smile. "It's the kind of place where people know you, and they go out of their way to take care of you."

LUS Weekly was the first to report that L-Kat was spending time fishing in Ontario, but staying in Crane Lake, MN, with her mystery man.  Now we can report that he is a mystery man no longer.

"It's official, we're dating," confirmed L-Kat with a smile.  "His name is Guide and I'm really optimistic about this one," she spilled.  The two were once again spotted fishing near Lac La Croix, which is connected to Crane Lake, where the couple stay during their fishing adventures.

"L-Kat stays here all the time.  It's great having an up-and-coming scientist giving our resort so much attention, but she is so down to earth, you'd never know she was a published researcher," dished the bartender at Scott's Resort.

"Scott's [Resort] is great - the people there treat me very well.  I needed some ibuprofen the other day, but the bar didn't sell any.  Tony [the bartender] left the bar, ran across the gravel road to his house, and came back with with what I needed.  And he would do that for anyone - that's what I love about that place," stated L-Kat in a brief interview with press before she left Crane Lake.

And just how good was the fishing on this trip?  LUS Weekly photographers managed to snap a few pictures of the biggest catches.

Photographers even managed to capture the "Mystery Man" with a nice-sized lake trout.

Crane Lake and Canadian fishing weren't the only activities planned for L-Kat on this busy weekend.  She was also spotted snowshoeing with her parents and dog, Ruby Zubinka, on Saturday afternoon.  Dog sledders on the lake reported seeing the group snowshoeing on Little Gabro Lake, making their way toward Bruin Lake.

"It's about a mile portage into Bruin, with a lot of hills, so they are going to get a workout," stated one dog sledder, who asked not to be named.

Later that night, L-Kat was seen entering her longtime friend, Cara's house.  Before arriving at Cara's, L-Kat stopped by a local gas station to pick up a pizza and her favorite flavor of caffeine, Diet Mountain Dew.

"Just a nice, quiet girl's evening watching movies with my friend," L-Kat told the clerk.  Which movies did the two watch?  "Paranormal Activity 3, of course!  And Breaking Dawn.  We've been waiting to watch those two together for a long time now, so it should be a great night.  Cara's the only one who loves scary movies as much as I do, and I'm the only one who will drool over sexy vampires with her," a laughing L-Kat told the clerk.

Her trip back to Fargo was unfortunately delayed due to some car troubles, "The air in my car quit working.  I can deal without the heat, but the windows fog up too badly for me to see," L-Kat told press Tuesday morning.  "I'll be back to work on Wednesday, though, don't you worry!"

  6. Glad you had such a great weekend!
It sounds like such a great place. In my neighborhood, if someone left the bar to get you ibuprofen, you would have to fake swallow it on account of there would be a 100% you were about to get roofied.

    1. Oh I know! It is such a tiny town and everyone is so nice and you can TRUST people there to hand you pills that they got from their HOUSE! Crazy. He actually left a FULL bar to get be some ibuprofen. I kept telling him it wasn't necessary, but he insisted. Such a great little place. I could never live there - everyone knows everything about you - but it's a great place to visit!
